OBSESSIONS

I AM OBSESSED, with many things :). But for this post I am going to be specific about magazines. Vogue, Cosmopolitan (US and UK versions), LOU LOU, Glamour, Fashion (CANADIAN WOO), Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Nylon but most recently the magazine CHEEK. This edgy yet extremely interesting online magazine takes a playful side to fashion and design. They show case fun new fashion designers, along with furniture designers and musicians and so on. This magazine is a one stop shop for all things cool, unique and exciting. Doesn't help that its based out of Canada! The photography inspires me to get out of my boundaries and explore all angles of the camera lens. Looking through the latest issue i have to say that "Brazilian Simplicity" photographed by Gian Megeghini, shot on location in Brazil. Is exactly the photography i want to do. It combines both landscape with a model and fashion. The exotic shores of Brazil are the perfect spot to shoot the both colored and black swimsuits featured in this spread. As if this magazine couldn't get any better they have a section for ART. Surrealism meets realism in this article surrounding the pieces in the Whitney Museum of American Arts illustrious 75th Biennial. I cant even explain the rest its is al so amassing! You have to check it out for your self!

First & For Most

To me the peony flower is the essence of beauty. Its purely natural presence is calming and enchanting. Each petal different from the rest. formed from a small bud of colour. The peony blooms into life and fills the air with its sticky but pleasing floral sent. My blog title is inspired by this experience as I have three different peony plants that have just come into bloom in my garden. Though living in Canada they are not in bloom for very long, only a few months do I get to experience the true beauty that I wait for. Though through the other months other pretty things and beautiful things do cross my mind. Art and fashion really catch my eye. I am an inspiring fashion photographer and am going to use this blog to express my opinions and ideas and maybe some of my artistic-ness. Trying to differ from most fashion blogs "peonies and pretty things" will shed light on photography in fashion, art and fashion of course! I will also include some of my own interests and opinions. Since i have been sewing and designing for almost 8 years now i have a lot to say about trends and fashion spreads, so i hope you enjoy my blog and let me know what you think!!
